Shae grew up in Los Angeles, California where she escaped from Hollywood to the Bay Area to study Community Studies with a focus in documentary filmmaking at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Shae is interested in and has produced work that challenges the politics surrounding sexuality and gender. Her 2002 honors thesis film Our Life, A Hidden Life, came out of a 6-month field study working in queer rights issues in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and screened at Frameline 2005 then toured internationally. She admits to having "had a crush on the idea of making alternative porn, and now it's turned into full fledged relationship." She has been cruising the alternative erotic world as a media maker recently, including working on BehindKink.com and shooting and co-directing with Pink and White since it's inception.
